Halloweensie Story: Cordelia the Chicken’s Halloween

mod-podge-halloween-banner

Halloween’s a’comin and the tricks have already started around here. And by tricks I mean the sort where you sit at your desk for four agonizing hours trying to figure out how to improve the layout of your blog, I do not recommend this for anyone even half as technically challenged as yours truly, and then you hit an internet glitch and lose all that work you’ve put in!

Maddening I tell ya, maddening!

Anywho, with Halloween lurking just a few days away, it’s time to plop down with a bag of chocolate and get to writing! And I’m sure you know what I’m talking about by now, right?

The 8th Annual Halloweensie Contest hosted by nonother than fabulous children’s book author, Susanna Leonard Hill. All of the guidelines are posted Here but the short version is this…

-Must be a Halloween story

-Must be for children 12 and under

-Must be 100 words or less (I can hardly tell you what I ate for breakfast in 100 words or less so this becomes quite a challenge for a talker like myself, Agh!)

-Must use the words shiver, cauldron, and howl

-Must stand on your head, moo like a cow, and click your heels three times while you recite the lines to Green Eggs and Ham

Just kidding about that last one…no really, I am! Please don’t go bottoms-up on my account, I do not need that sort of hate mail in my inbox. Stay upright and just read this here story about Cordelia instead…

Cordelia the Chicken’s Halloween

(WC- 100)

This is Cordelia the Chicken.

Normally, Cordelia would beat the sun to bed, but tonight is quite a special night.

Tonight is Halloween.

Cordelia has waited a very long time for this ceremonial eve.

She has practiced her howling for hours on end.

Cluck! Cluck! Cluuuooowwwlll!

The cauldron has been boiling for days.

Glup! Glup! Gloop!

She even ordered the hairy spider suckers, though they did give her quite a case of the shivers.

And now, there is only one thing left for Cordelia the Chicken to do…

Cross the road to meet her friends at the Halloween Night Extravaganza!

THE END

You. Are. Welcome.

No more wondering about that darn chicken and why she crossed the road!

🙂

Last but not least, aren’t those cute little clementine pumpkin cups filled with pudding (say that five times fast, I dare ya) just so stinking adorable? Head on over to Yummy Mummy Kitchen to get all the tasty details!

This is such a cute story. I love it!

  3. Hahaha! At last we find out why the chicken crossed the road 🙂 Fun, clever story, Angie! Thanks for joining in the fun! (BTW, your link was broken. I mucked about until I got to your story and then fixed the link on the link list – apologies for not catching it sooner – but maybe you’ll get a few more visitors now!)

    1. Thanks, Susanna! Quite appropriate that my link was messed up in a post talking about my technical difficulties, right? 😉 Did I do something wrong when posting the link to cause the problem?

Good luck reading all those spooky stories, hope you’ve still got plenty of chocolate on hand to make it to the finish line!

Ha ha such a cute story!

  5. LOVE how you incorporated the chicken crossing the road joke–absolutely fabulous. And I commiserate on tech difficulties, then losing everything. Been there, drowned sorrows in caramel m&m’s

    1. Thanks, Candice, glad you like the story! Caramel m&m’s definitely make tech malfunctions seem a little less sorrowful. 😊 Hmmm…perhaps a STEM book powered by tiny balls of chocolate?
