I’ve always loved magazines. The photos, the short snippets of info., the stories, recipes, quotes, recommendations, the ability to travel without ever leaving the page! Ah, yes, I believe magazines are quite magical. And so…

I started one of my own!

I know, I can hardly believe it myself but Here it is, the very first issue of this little birdie HomePlace, Spring 2021!

It’s colorful, sturdy, and so completely wonderful! I know I’m a bit biased, but seriously, the quality of the paper, ink, and binding is so much more than I dreamed it would be, I’m just absolutely smitten!

The “idea of a magazine” has been in the works for many, many months now, and there were definitely times that I didn’t think I would ever cross the finish line. The pictures were the easy part, I have tons of those as I’m a bit of a photography addict, BUT…I had to teach myself how to use several different computer programs in order to design and layout the pages and you all know that technology, for me, is worse than jumping through a ring of fire on a pogo stick…blindfolded!

But I did it anyway.

This magazine means so much to me, I just can’t really put it into words. It means my photography IS good enough for publication. It means I didn’t quit when the going got tough.

Ya’ll, it was sooo tough!

It means I learned something new, a lot of things actually, most of which involve technology! It means I should never listen to the naysayers when they tell me that I “can’t”…

Because I absolutely CAN!

It also means I drank ALL the coffee, ha! In my defense, there was photo editing, copying, page layouts, page designs, page illustrations, fact checking, writing, editing, proofreading, editing, editing, editing! And let me just say, sometimes the only thing that will get you through the editing, is the coffee!

And Amen.
