My gardens are running behind this year. It seems like every time I thought about putting out seeds and seedlings we would get another frost warning.
So I waited.
Knowing I only have one more growing season after this one left at this property, I’ve been anxious and in a hurry to get all-the-things accomplished that I’d planned, and yet here we are the middle of June and I am nowhere near where I had hoped to be.
But sometimes it’s like that. Sometimes, you just have to cut loose all those plans and adjust your sails to the changing winds. Not the easiest thing in the world to do, especially for a planner like myself, but necessary never the less!
And you know, even though it isn’t what I had originally planned for, this little garden is plucking along pretty nicely. By midsummer, the fruits of our labor will be in full swing and this slow-going spring will be a distant memory.
We just have to keep going.
Here is a small snippet of what’s been happening out in the garden as of late. There would, of course, be lots of sunflowers (I special ordered some beautiful seeds!) if the bunnies hadn’t decided it was buffet night at the Somerville home. Never have I ever felt more empathy for ‘ol Mr. McGregor!
